Technical Meta ls Limited, based in Newtownards in County Down was established in 1984 as part of Circuit & Systems Design an innovat ive designer and manufacturer of Automat ed systems and Power Instrumentat ion equipment.

Acquired by Hathaway Power Corporation Denver U.S.A. in 1992 the company provided all machined parts and anodising for the group. In 1995 the company was privately acquired and expanded in subcontract finishing for a range of local companies.

Anodising is an electrochemical process used to produce durable and decorative finishes on components made from aluminium. This is achieved by applying direct current through a suitable electrolyte (dilute sulphuric acid) in which the aluminium is the anode and a suitable material (eg, lead) is the cathode. Surface finishes include Natural Anodising, Black Anodising, Bright Anodising, ½ Bright Anodising, Bead Blasting, Brushing, Clear Chemical Film and Chromate Conversion. We are in the process of offering Hard Anodising as a surface finish.

Supporting the plating process the company offer NC Machining, Routing, Milling, Turning and Grinding. Preparation of surfaces is achieved by means of high speed rotary wheel airless blasting which allows volume production rates and high quality levels. Brushing or Graining of components is achieved by a system of linishing machines achieving desired levels of finish.
